I can understand freedom of speech in reference to a PERSONAL blog or something like a twitter…but not on the blog of a business/magazine site and you are supposed to be a WRITER for said business/magazine. Spewing out supposed concern for “morbidly obese” people and stating how gross it is to even look at them….that seems very counterproductive and offensive to me. I’ve never met a person who WANTED to be obese or overweight. Who wants that?
However, most people seem to conveniently forget, or are simply ignorant of, the fact that a size or BMI is a generalization and is not the correct staple for everyone to conform to. Bodies are different, obviously. Frames are different. Muscle mass. Other factors…. I mean really. Not everyone can be tiny.
I could never fit into a damned size 0, not ever. I’m not physically built for that. I have a large frame and hold my weight well, even though by the BMI standards I am much too heavy. However, I don’t necessarily think I need to conform to that. I believe if I did I would look sickly by the time I was through.
I could do with some weight loss, yes, but if I tried to weigh 120 pounds? I would look VERY sickly at that point.
The world is stuffed too full with ignorance, intolerance, and arrogance. I wish people would simply grow up and stop hating everything that is different from how they want it to be. It’s life, and it’s only semi-controllable.
